Independent Photojournalist
Kossy Chen (Keying) is a Hong Kong-based emerging photojournalist and a 2024 graduate of the School of Journalism and Communication (English News) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Mentored by Paul Yeung and Nick Danziger, her practice occupies the intersection of investigative journalism and evocative visual storytelling. A double-award recipient at the 2023 HKPPA "Focus at the Frontline" competition, Chen centers her work on social equity and the narratives of marginalized communities.
Her latest long-term project, Splits and Sutures: A Homeland Herstory of Four Generations, provides a meticulous chronicle of the resilience found among rural women in Northeast China. Her ongoing portfolio further explores the rights of sex workers in Hong Kong, housing justice within urban village redevelopments, animal welfare, and the existential challenges faced by cancer patients in China.
